Think it’s in MLM Lead Systems?

There’s a big misunderstanding about using MLM lead systems.  By writing this article I hope to clear up some of the fog as to why network marketing lead systems just don’t seem to be getting the duplication those who join are looking for.

So, here’s the million dollar question in everyone’s mind.

“If an MLM Lead system claims to be able to take a prospect through a process where they are compelled to buy on the other end and by using the system, the playing field is suppose to be leveled, why is it that for some it works and for others it doesn’t?”

It’s a combination of a couple of factors. In this article, I’m going to talk about the brand new person who is not yet involved in any kind of online marketing, they’ve turned to the internet to find something and “whaaa laaa”, they come across an ad that leads them to a network marketing lead system.  Let’s pull back the curtain and take a look behind the scenes so you get a picture of both the advertising being done and how the new “buyer” reacts.

1) The individuals who ARE getting sales using the automated MLM lead systems are spending massive amounts of money to drive tons of traffic for exposure.  It’s a number’s game.

2) The ones that ARE BUYING INTO these network marketing lead systems are looking for the EASY button.  They are gullible and dreaming about how easy it’s going to be to make thousands of dollars by plugging into their own  MLM lead systems.  After all, they’ve seen the ads whereby people are making thousands and even millions of dollars using the internet.

3) There are some network marketers who are using MLM lead systems BUT have “influence”.  By influence, I’m talking about leadership positioning.  They have content online to demonstrate they know how to market.  You will find them on YouTube or other video hosting sites.  You will see they have blogs and articles, Squidoo lenses, Hub pages, they are active in forums and have a name for themselves online.

4) Not only that, they are driving traffic to their MLM lead systems through their influence on those pieces of content by way of social media outlets which are all free network marketing strategies.

So here lies the problem with network marketing systems.

The influential marketers and/or the ones who have a ton of cash to spend on paid advertising (like pay per click with Google, Yahoo, MSN, or big banner ads on relevant high traffic sites) are making sales.  They are bringing in sales, yes, but these sales are all from gullible people who don’t have a clue what it really took to get their attention behind the scenes.  That being MONEY and INFLUENCE.

Here’s what happens next.  Let’s unfold this problem:  10 Steps to Quitting.

This new gullible person who joined an MLM lead system is given a series of instructions that probably look like this:

1) Get on a conference call sponsored by the leaders of the company once a week and learn what to do.

2) They get on the call but are more confused than ever because they know what they are suppose to do but they don’t know how to do it.  They REALLY thought this  was going to be more of a “plug and play” automation kind of system.  They didn’t have a clue they would have to learn to do internet marketing and spend the kind of money on advertising that they are hearing others do.  They aren’t even really comfortable with the computer even, let alone some of the lingo they are hearing.

3) They are told to log into their back office and are given some video instructions about how to market the replicated website.  So, they log in, do what they are told, they watch the videos but, they still have some questions.  They are insecure, unsure, and 2 + 2 are not coming to 4.   But, they go ahead and put some advertising out doing the best they can.  Some spend a couple hundred or more thinking that maybe it will work.

4) They get no results and are not feeling very good about the whole thing but they hang in there.

5) They try to reach someone at the main office of the lead system and can’t get anyone.  So, they forget about it for a few days but it it aggravates them every time they think about it.

6) They receive an email that announces the next conference call for training.  So they hop on that call.  It’s similar to the first call they were on but they feel a little inspired so they log into their back office, watch the video trainings again but freeze like deer in headlights for the same reason they did the first time.  They are insecure, unsure and 2 + 2 are not coming to 4.  But, they go ahead and put some more advertising out doing the best they can.  Some spend a couple hundred or more thinking that maybe it will work THIS TIME.

7) Nothing happens or very little happens.  No results.  Again, aggravated, they put it aside for another week.

8 They are billed again for the system and it makes their stomach turn because they are wondering what the heck is going on and questioning their judgment in joining in the first place.  They are a little grumpy about having been charged the fee.

9) They discover whose MLM lead system they came through and try and reach them for individual help.  No luck.  They don’t get a return call.

Or, perhaps they made contact but the sponsor is no better off then they are and they can’t help.

Or, perhaps they made contact but the sponsor refers them back to the weekly conference calls and back office training.

10) They continue this cycle for another pay period but after the second billing that was charged to their account, they quit.  They MAY do a “Google” search looking for help from someone else in the same business that may be more helpful to see if they can salvage anything.  But, more often than not, it’s over.  They’ve wasted time, money, energy, and now they having but bad things to say about the home business industry.  You really can’t blame them.

But, this is why it’s so important to get the message out for those looking to be involved in network marketing to get educated on how success online works.  It’s not about systems, it’s about relationships.
