<p>But the problem is, most can&#8217;t.  Or at least won&#8217;t accept the possibility that they can create their future with the right mindset.  I suggest they don&#8217;t believe it or they would do whatever they needed to obtain a shift in their thinking, habits, behaviors and even those who they associate with.</p>
<p>This is the fourth in a series of articles I&#8217;m writing on the topic of &#8220;Influence&#8221; or &#8220;Posturing&#8221; that&#8217;s so critical in the aspects of business success.  This article will be on personal development and the role it plays for those who run a business from home or are otherwise involved in the network marketing, home business arena.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ve heard it a thousand times, success in network marketing is 90% mindset and 10% skillet.  True.  You&#8217;ve also probably heard equally as often, &#8220;If you think you can, you&#8217;re right.  If you think you can&#8217;t, your right.&#8221;  It&#8217;s all in the mindset and attitude.</p>
<p>To be influential in your business, it must begin on the inside of you.  There must be a belief system that says &#8220;I can do anything I put my mind to.  I can accomplish great things.  I can make a difference in the lives of thousands or millions of people&#8221;.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s many great books on the subject of personal development, but one I particularly like is by John C. Maxwell entitled &#8220;Thinking for a Change&#8221;.  And it&#8217;s the change in your thinking that actually affects the change.</p>
<p>Maxwell asks the question and answers:</p>
<p><strong><em>&#8220;To do well in life, we must first think well.  But can we actually learn new mental habits?  The answer is YES . . .&#8221;</em></strong></p>
<p>However, changed thinking does not happen overnight.  It&#8217;s not something you can take a pill for.  It&#8217;s something you must want so bad that you engage in the everything purposefully thinking about how to think, respond, react, say, do, behave.  Maxwell says,</p>
<p><em>&#8220;It&#8217;s hard to overstate the value of changing your thinking.  Good thinking can do many things for you:  generate revenue, solve problems, and create opportunities.  It can take you to a whole new level &#8211; personally and professionally.  It really can change your life.&#8221;</em></p>
<p>As you begin to reach a whole new level, your influence will be kicked up a notch.  It will be evident in the way you talk, walk and respond to every situation in life.</p>
<p>As a bonus of doing your personal development, it can help you take all the years, how ever old you are, and undo the garbage your subconscience believes about yourself.  Things like:</p>
<p>You aren&#8217;t good enough<br />
You don&#8217;t measure up<br />
You can&#8217;t do that<br />
Nobody will ever listen to you<br />
You&#8217;re a bum<br />
You&#8217;ll never amount to anything<br />
You&#8217;re always going to fail</p>
<p>You get my drift.</p>
<p>You were created by God with all the parts you need to be successful.  If He planted a seed inside you that calls you to be an entrepreneur, He would equip you with everything you need for birthing that dream and calling you into all that you deserve and desire.  God never plants seeds he knows you can&#8217;t birth.</p>
<p>Personal development holds the keys to taking you from a caterpillar to a butterfly.  Without it, you&#8217;ll never fly.  You won&#8217;t even come out of your cacoon.  I don&#8217;t make the rules, I&#8217;m just the delivery person of this truth.  Our mindsets must be right and everything else will follow.</p>

<p>This is part 3 of a series I&#8217;m writing about on the topic of having &#8220;Influence&#8221; or &#8220;Posture&#8221; that&#8217;s so important in the highly competitive network marketing industry.  It&#8217;s an industry where many struggle and fail and never know why.  For the most part, they were never shown or told about what I&#8217;m sharing in this series.</p>
<p>More often than not, new business owners think it&#8217;s all about their product and payplan but that&#8217;s just not the biggest component in long term business growth.  A business owner must learn to brand themselves as the product, their services, becoming a solutions provider and incorporate their network marketing business into that equation.  To stand out from the crowd, the masses actually, one must have a unique selling proposition, or a reason why someone would want to join with them rather than someone else who offers more value.</p>
<p>This article is about becoming more valuable to the marketplace.  That means more education, more learning and apply it to their business.  The results will be visable to the crowds and as a result, more business follows.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t know anyone who teaches, practices law, has a career in real estate and property management,  practices medicine, writes insurance and securities, just to name a few, who doesn&#8217;t gain more knowledge in how to become more proficient, updated on new marketing and strategies, procedures, rules and regulations, etc., every year. The longer they are in business or practice their profession, the more knowledgeable and more valuable they become to others.</p>
<p>As they become more knowledgeable, they are able to provide more value to those they serve.  Along with that gained knowledge and value added to the consumer, the more money they make.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t know any professional athlete who doesn&#8217;t spend hours and hours perfecting their game even after they become champ.  They&#8217;re right back in practice the day after they win.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t know any business owner that doesn&#8217;t network, attend trade shows, participate in conferences, etc., to keep up on current trends in the market and stay at the top of their competition.</p>
<p>So, what does this have to do with becoming a successful business owner in terms of network marketing?</p>
<p><strong>Everything.  I&#8217;m going to make a point.  Here&#8217;s what happens when education and applied knowledge is not practiced.<br />
</strong></p>
<p>I see alot of the following in the network marketing industry:</p>
<p><strong>This happens within groups of people that<br />
teach internet marketing strategies.</strong></p>
<p>Someone joins a home business.<br />
They read up about their company<br />
They do a video or two or three, usually for their website<br />
They develop their own personally branded website<br />
They put together a handful of autoresponder messages<br />
They run a few ads and spend a couple hundred dollars<br />
They don&#8217;t get the results they want<br />
They may change some ad copy, replace a video and do another couple hundred in marketing<br />
They don&#8217;t get the results they want<br />
They start complaining and before long, they have disappeared</p>
<p><strong>This happens within groups where they are given a<br />
replicated company website and told to buy leads<br />
and call people</strong></p>
<p>Someone joins a home business<br />
They read up about their company<br />
They configure their replicated website to include their contact info<br />
They buy their first batch of leads who are sent directly to their website and downloaded into their back office system<br />
They are told to call all their leads<br />
They either call them and completely fumble through the scripts and face rejection or they freeze up from fear and never call.<br />
They decide they just don&#8217;t have enough leads yet so they buy more leads and send those leads through the system hoping that someone will call them and be head over heals about joining the opportunity.<br />
That doesn&#8217;t happen<br />
A couple weeks, months go by, no results<br />
They start complaining, they cancel their website and disappear</p>
<p>I think you get the idea. <strong> What happened?</strong></p>
<p>There was no education from the get go.<br />
There was no long term game plan from the get go.<br />
There was no commitment to learn.<br />
There was no resolve to work through obstacles.<strong><br />
</strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #003300;">Education is knowledge.<br />
Knowledge is power.<br />
Applied knowledge is success.</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-size: small;">Developing skillsets, learning how to market, teaching others, understanding core concepts of attraction marketing, these are things that when applied and used, will attract others that want to do business with you.  People start chasing you, rather than you chasing people.  The other thing that will happen is that not only will people be chasing you, but a higher caliber of person in <em>terms of their mindset</em> will be attracted to you and want to jv or partner with you.  When that happens, your income goes up because the people you are now bringing into your business are movers and shakers and you are leveraged from their relationship with you.</span></span><strong><span style="font-size: medium;"><span style="color: #003300;"><br />
</span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong>My Mentor Mike Klinger puts it this way:</strong></p>
<p><em>If you get your focus onto developing your Influence Factor, by taking the time to establish a deeper understanding of foundational business principles and strategies (like collaboration, JVs, the business development mindset and building process), and start learning the grander concepts that make for a powerful and complete marketing funnel of your own design, then &#8220;making big money&#8221; actually starts to get easy&#8230; not for the reasons most talk about, but because you become much more attractive as a business person, and other influential people will want to work with you.  What they bring to the table is worth more to you than anything you could ever produce.  So developing your Influence Factor is, therefore, the most valuable thing you can do.  It may be all that&#8217;s been missing.</em></p>
<p>True entrepreneurs take the development of their businesses very seriously.  They search out answers to problems and find solutions to overcome obstacles.  They are always seeking out new people to network with, to share ideas with, to brainstorm with.  They seek out new training and mentoring programs to help then become better business men and women.  Their offices turn into little libraries with many books on topics such as mindset, personal development, inner growth, biographies of successful people, marketing strategies, inspiration, and a variety of other subjects.</p>
<p>When a network marketer gains more knowledge and implements that knowledge, they have already increased their influence a notch.  People can see it, feel it, sense it.  Their confidence increases, their energy, their passion and excitement for their business grows and people want to be around people like that.</p>
<p>For me, I&#8217;m always involved in one training program or the other.  I love to learn.  I never want to stop learning.</p>

<p>This is part of a series I&#8217;m doing on the &#8220;Influence Factor&#8221; which separates those who find true successful businesses and those who struggle for years until they finally give up or never quite achieve what they desired.</p>
<p>In this article I share why it&#8217;s important for others to see and feel your presence in your business and how this ties in to creating that all important &#8220;influence&#8221; or &#8220;posture&#8221;, as some may call it.  Leadership posturing can be learned with the right mentoring and mindset and there are many leadership training resources to help you accomplish that.</p>
<p>People respond most to a person&#8217;s confidence, <em>concepts</em>, mindset, <em>language</em>, attitude and leadership more than anything else.  These are a part of what I call your &#8220;Influence Factor.&#8221;</p>
<p>This is why so many network marketers are failing or struggling when they lead with their product arguing over who&#8217;s juice is better than another brand.  Or who&#8217;s travel club is better than another, or why one personal development seminar program is superior to another.  Blah, blah, blah.  People do not buy into a business because of the business product typically.  They buy into it because they bought the person they spoke to about it.  People are relational and they want to do business with someone they feel they know, like and trust and who are confident that they can be helped.</p>
<p><span style="color: #888888;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>What does it mean to be Present in your Business?  Here are 5 Examples.<br />
</strong></span></span></p>
<p><strong>1) </strong> Be learning and share what you learn with the public.</p>
<p>It doesn&#8217;t matter at what level you are learning.  The idea is to teach what you know.  When you learn something and teach it, it sets you aside as an authority, someone who can demonstrate they know how to do it and it goes a long way in leadership posturing.</p>
<p><strong>2) </strong>Create your own products.</p>
<p>Create products based on the knowledge and skillsets you have at the time you put them together.   You will use these products as give aways for those who join your mailing list to begin with.  As you continue to advance in your knowledge and skillsets, these can become more valuable products and you&#8217;ll create some that you want to charge for.  Allow yourself to grow into your knowledge, but in the meantime, show people that you&#8217;re a serious entrepreneur and create something you can talk about with authority.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s nothing quite like addressing yourself as an author.  When you add that to your network marketing resume&#8217;, that says something about your commitment to your industry and your business.</p>
<p><strong>3)</strong> Give good customer service.</p>
<p>Offer help and even coaching and mentoring as soon as you feel you&#8217;re up to it.  As you begin your business, you will always find that there are others who don&#8217;t know quite as much as you.  Coach at the level for which you are qualified.  Yes, you can certainly charge a fee for your time.  Offering a complimentary coaching session is nice and can demonstrate that you something about what you&#8217;re talking about.</p>
<p><strong>4)</strong> Stay in personal development, continue to grow from the inside out and role model more of the leadership skills you are learning.  You will evolve through this process and by participating in forums, responding to people in a public arena through social media sites, your videos, how to talk, what you say, all are going to demonstrate your leadership, mindset, attitude.</p>
<p><strong>5)</strong> Be consistent in your marketing.  Let people see that you are a player, not just a talker about playing.  Role modeling and doing the business building activities will generate more duplication on your team because you are leading by example.  Don&#8217;t just tell them what to do, show them.  Participate in forums, in social networking communities, on video, and as they see you in the game, having fun and giving value to people, it will be easier for them to duplicate it.</p>

<p>In a previous article on how important <a href="http://bestnetworkmarketingstrategies.com/mike-klingler-offers-influence-development-through-renegade-breakthrough/">influence</a> is in relation to both long term and short term business success, we discovered that offering something unique and valuable by way of content to others will lead to achieving so much more in the growth of our business.</p>
<p>Without having a unique selling proposition, a prospect who lands on a piece of content will decide in about 10 seconds whether or not to stay and read on, or whether to move on to the next article or ad.  The idea is to have enough influence, posture, confidence and value that they will not only want to read the content, but will crave more of the same from the author.  They have been inspired, or they have been left hanging with more questions and will click on links to other content the author has put online because it&#8217;s full of value for them.  They are attracted to you.</p>
<p>A great way to grab a prospects attention is by learning how to create your own info product whereby offering them something they can&#8217;t get somewhere else.  If you remember, the product you are selling and marketing is YOU, Inc.  Not your juice, legal services, travel club membership, personal development stuff, etc.  It&#8217;s you.  You are your product.  Creating your own info products will go a good way in establishing authority, but again, there must be some good content to it.</p>
<p>If you forgot why what is, it&#8217;s because people by nature are relational.  They want to do business with those they know, like and trust.  If it&#8217;s just the product they want, they can get that anywhere.  But if they want to succeed in a business, they will be sponsor shopping, snooping around to see who can demonstrate marketing abilities.  They are looking for a leader, someone with influence that can help them and point them in the right direction.   You will want that to be you.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong><span style="color: #003300;">ESTABLISHING INFLUENCE THROUGH YOUR PRODUCT<br />
</span></strong></span></p>
<p>So, getting back to product creation, by offering a unique piece of content that you created yourself, you are accomplishing a couple of things.</p>
<p>1)  You are demonstrating that you are an expert on the subject matter &#8211; only experts create products</p>
<p>2)  You are demonstrating that you are a leader  &#8211; only leaders create products</p>
<p>3) You are offering something they can&#8217;t find anywhere else &#8211; you created it</p>
<p>4) You are demonstrating that you can add value to their life and perhaps have the solution to their problem &#8211; because you are teaching them what they need to know to be successful.</p>
<p>Now that we&#8217;ve talked about why you want to create your own product, your next question may be, what the heck do you create?  Valid question.  This is where it gets fun.  And when you stop and really think about your own experiences in life and in business, you have a lot of angles you can come from, you just are not aware of it yet.</p>

<p>This is by no means a complete list.   I&#8217;m sure you can add to this list as you get creative or run across ideas that you see others implement.  So the next question would be what kind of value you put into a product that others will want.  There will be different variations of products based on the level of your knowledge.  Let&#8217;s look at some possibilities.</p>
<p><span style="color: #003300;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>PRODUCT CREATION IDEAS FOR THE NEWBIE</strong></span></span></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s assume this is you:</p>
<p>Your brand new to the home business arena and network marketing.<br />
You haven&#8217;t learned how to master any one skill yet.<br />
You recognize that in order to be successful you will need to have influence (posture)<br />
You understand that teaching and helping others is the fastest way to build a list</p>
<p>Here may be some things you can talk about and share your knowledge about.</p>
<p><strong>1)  Questions people should be asking before they join any home business opportunity.  They are not asking the right questions. </strong></p>
<p>Here you will talk about the importance of influence and attraction marketing.  That yes, the product, the payplan and the company should meet the criteria that they are looking for, but educate them on the fact that it&#8217;s not the product they will ultimately be marketing, but its themselves. They should be inquiring whether the person they are partnering with teaches these things and what resources are available for them to learn.</p>
<p><strong>2)  Understanding the conflict and confusion that goes on when searching for an opportunity. </strong></p>
<p>You will understand what others are going through as they sift through opportunities and possible people to sponsor under.  What were some of the things you were confused about and really needed answers about, then create a product around your own experience and give it a catchy name.</p>
<p><strong>3)  Why using attraction marketing is key for anyone looking to build a business online.</strong></p>
<p>You know why replicated sites are not effective.  You know that personal branding and utilizing web 2.0 (video, blogs, pictures, stories) are effective.  Talk about that.  Wake people up to the truth.  Then give them examples and send them to your content, be it a video, a blog, etc.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;ve been suckered in by an automated pie in the sky system, you can create a product sharing your own story.  Stories are very powerful and people can really relate on a grand scale to that.</p>
<p>Embrace the possibilities for creating your own products.  It can be fun if you open your mind to the different directions you can go.  True entrepreneurs act in spite of fear, in spite of having all the answers.  Don&#8217;t be afraid to venture out and put your name to a report.  You have a lot of value to offer.  Don&#8217;t be stingy with that.  Take what you know at this point and put it into content form and give it as a gift.  Try it.</p>

<p>If you&#8217;re wondering why some are successful in their network marketing careers and others are not, it comes down to how influential you are.  Many network marketers are out there using third party replicated systems, they are putting up content marketing their products and how great their juices, legal services, travel club membership, personal development, etc., are, and as a result, they have no influence.</p>
<p>Prospects see their content and are quickly repelled off the page because there is nothing to captivate their attention, to teach them something they need to know about being successful, or anything unique about what&#8217;s being said.</p>
<p>Yes, its vitally important to learn to market, but it&#8217;s more than that.  It&#8217;s just part of the equation.  One must also have influence which Mike defines as  a person&#8217;s confidence, <em>concepts</em>, mindset, <em>language</em>, attitude and leadership.  Some would call this posturing.  But to understand where true success, long term success as a business owner comes in, is understanding and learning how to be influential.</p>
