Getting Organized In
Your Home Office

<—- If this is all the
room you have for
office space, you can
still be organized

Whether you have an entire room you can dedicate to your home office space or you have just a nook, messes and chaos can easily overtake your space leaving you no room for creativity.

Getting organized in your home business will give you no excuse to not get your work done.  Here are some tips to help you get started toward that goal.

1) Define your office space in your home.

2) The only thing on your desk should be your computer, your phone and maybe a picture of something you’re passionate about and a notepad to keep your thoughts on paper as you work.

3) Store office supplies like stapler and staples, paper clips, extra pens, paper, brochures, order forms, tape, etc. in your desk, again organized neatly.

4) Clean your space spic and span.  Declutter, dust, vacuumn and organize any bookcases, file cabinets, etc.

5) Your surroundings should inspire you.  You want your space/office to make you feel special.  You’re the CEO of your multi-million dollar empire and your office should provide positive, creative energy for you to work in.

Things to pay attention to:

>>  Color of walls?  You may need a coat of paint to cheer and freshen up your space.
>>  Pictures on the wall and sitting around?  How do they make you feel?
>>  Is there plenty of lighting?
>>  Is it quiet?

When your area is clean and free from clutter, your mind is free to create.  A cluttered work area is a cluttered mind.

Take a look at all the places in your home that you work in.  Does it call for a declutter and clean up?

What about your car?  Many people still working the 9-5 grind find themselves stuck in traffic and can spend 1.5 to 2 hours in the car every day.  Use this time to listen to motivational and personal development CD’s.  If you have a clean car, the information will be received better and you’ll feel more in control of where you’re heading in your business.

As a treat to yourself, hire a kid in the neighborhood to help clean your car and even office.  Kids are willing to work for pizza and soda or movie tickets.  It’s great to barter.

Organizing your home office sooner rather than later will put you in a business building mode quicker than anything.  Enjoy your journey.  Put your favorite music on and whistle while you work.
